A look back at the 2003 Member-Guest:

Could anyone have asked for a more ideal weekend than July 18^th & 19^th, 2003?  The conditions were sunny skies, highs of 74 degrees’, and 20 percent humidity for both days. Tournament Chairperson, David Rutz, Head Golf Professional, Sean Brennan, and Golf Course Superintendent, Thad Thompson, put together the ideal setting for 88 hardened competitors to ply their skills at Seneca Falls Country Club’s 18 Championship holes.  Club House Manager, Kevin O’Bara and his staff, made sure the competitors were satiated and contented on the inside. This years’ competition were four 9-hole matches with the competitors divided into eleven flights.  Four teams played 3 matches and the fourth match pitted 1^st against 2^nd and 3^rd against 4^th.  Points were awarded at 1 pt. per hole and ½ pt. awarded for winning the match. This format led to some extremely tight competition with flights being won by ¼ points. 

What is SFCC’s Member Guest?  Is it just another golf tournament? Or is it something more? To my eyes, I have seen college roommates get together to relive the best of times, I have seen fathers and sons playing Mutt & Jeff, best friends exchanging being heroes’ and goats.  Yes there is competition but there is also the opportunity for old memories to be enjoyed and new memories to be created.  The 2003 SFCC Member-Guest was a winner for all who participated; please consider adding this to your tournament calendar for 2004.
